Who still has their first dug bottle!

I remember almost 60 years ago tromping through the woods in NH with my bottle collecting family. Bored to death and carrying my bottle-digger. I spotted a triangular dark shard of glass laying flat on the ground and tapped it with my hoe. It didn't move. I started to scratch around the glass...

Broken bottles worth keeping, selling, donating, chucking

I had several broken/colorful bottles that I took and cleaned and then covered with a towel and took a hammer to them; making shards. Then I took a 'shadow box' and replaced the back with clear glass and placed them between the two pieces of glass. It makes a good keepsake and conversation...

Replace a Label or Keep with bottle?

Hi All: I have a couple of bottles (1 bottle - 1 ink) that the label has dried and come loose from the bottle. I have the labels (see photo) and can't decide whether to reattach the label, or just keep it with the bottle. If I choose to reattach, any suggestions on what to use and how to...

Bizarre base marking/pontil combo on import black glass

Wow! If its a dark green glass ( making it look black) it could be a Stoddard glassworks bottle. That mark is very familiar. Check it out.

Best bottle brush for cleaning the inside of bottles?

Quite often you can find good bottle brushes in the Big Box Stores in the Baby/Infant Department. Used for cleaning feeding bottles, etc.

Lighting when taking pics of Embossed Bottles

Great idea. I wonder if you could put a light box on the keyboard with the back screen white for another effect?

What to do with the commons and/or slicks

If they are colorful, I take and break them and use the shards as shown. If I dig a good color of shard I keep it as well. Then I buy an inexpensive shadow box frame, one that the back can be easily removed and cut a piece of glass (or have it cut) to fit this opening. This way you have glass...
