DPdigger,
Cheers, yeah I realised after that this was in fact a mineral water bottle. Beamish bottled them in Bandon, Co. Cork. Going back to this site now. Have to cycle around 25km, but it's a nice cycle. Hopefully will find more.
Best,
Seán
Hi all,
Today I came across this bottle. It is a small unusually shaped bottle with an applied lip, large embossing reading BEAMISH BANDON, and greenish glass with many bubbles. I'm wondering what age this could be or if anyone knows if there is a specific name to this shape?
Thanks,
Seán
Hi all,
I'm not sure if I am posting in the right section - I know a lot about my bottles and want to show them to you but also have a few minor questions about some.
My first bottle was found lying on top of an old stone boundary wall in an overgrown part of the woods I dig in. It is an...
Loadzabottles,
Cheers - some great info there. I am not joined any of the english forums but will look into it and join some of them. Do you have any idea what the Queenstown bottle may be worth? I would never sell it but it would be interesting to know.
Thanks,
Seán
Wheelah,
Thanks for that info. It certianly does look a lot like that bottle alright. I found it by pure chance. It had rolled down from the dump site and down into a gulley. It's bottom end was just visible. First bottle of the day as I entered the woods from the shoreline!
Cheers,
Seán
Haha,
Thanks Cyberdigger. This is a great forum - I will continue to post as I find. So do you reckon I finally have some 19th C stuff at least?
Thanks again.
Seán
Hi all,
Thanks for all the help and welcomes yesterday. Well I went out today and visited a couple of sites that I had not visited before and it seems to have paid off! Forgive me if these are not pre 1900s but they certainly seem to be! Fingers crossed. The first bottle is very irregular and...
Hi Surfaceone,
Thanks for all of the information. With regards to bottle #4 - I know it is an old guinness bottle but don't know exact date. I am having a lot of trouble uploading pictures. How did you attach more than one picture in one post?
Anyway.. I have posted a picture of the seal...
Hi Cowseatmaize,
Thanks for the reply! Yeah I'm from Cork, Ireland (just updated my profile now). There is no screw thread inside. It's probably just the lighting. A lot of the bottles I found have direct connections to Cork but I'm finding it very difficult to trace anything. I have not been...
Hi all,
I have only taken an interest in bottle digging in the past few weeks and have come across a few minor dumps. The old dumps I found have bottles from the 1800s (as traced by the embossing), but have only yielded broken shards. I recently found a nice dump but most of the stuff seems...
