Here is a US example that I have had for some years, not hugely rare I know, but I like it! I wouldn't mind a smaller one to go with it, I am sure I saw a picture of a smaller one once.
I can't recall if I have posted this bottle on here in the past.
It is a clear glass bottle embossed around the shoulder with Bavarian Hop Bitters and a bird trade mark.
This was found in Australia, but the glass does not to be of Australian manufacture. It is probably late 1800's, early...
Last one for now, the Dr Grants Dandelion Bitters, New York. Even though it has New York embossed on it, this is actually NOT from New York. Us Aussies had some weird ideas back then, as we do now too, and so it is not uncommon for our companies to produce American sounding items such as this...
Here is the PINT Chicago, extremely rare in this small size. This has a lot of scratching and so could do with a polish, but when it comes to rarity, they do not come much harder to get than this.
I apologise for not being on the forum for a long time, all good intentions, but no time to back them up. Will try to be back again more frequently, here's hoping.
One of the things that has been taking up excessive time is getting the catalogue ready for the next auction, Auction 5. I have...
Lovely bottles those Rows. The left earlier example is found in Australia in a huge range of colours, I saw a collection of them once that was simply outstanding. They come in black glass, cobalt blue, green, yellow, amber and many shades in between. There is a possibility that these were...
Sorry for the lack of response, has been a bit hectic over here lately.
I will get a picture of the other sides soon and post here. They are pretty plain except for the embossed shoulder.
I cannot say deifnitively why there are so many bottles from here that are named after other places, however there are a couple of theories.
Many of the American named bitters were found in country areas at old Cobb and Co stations, it is thought that possibly they were named as such to cater...
Another rare example, an amethyst Liebigs Sarsaparilla from Sydney
Now for some of my mates bitters
Amber Gippsland hop bitters
Bairnsdale Hop Bitters of DJ Tuony and Co of Melbourne
Kent Hop Bitters from PG Dixon and Co of Melbourne
A couple of Philadelphia Hop...
