I apologise for not being on the forum for a long time, all good intentions, but no time to back them up. Will try to be back again more frequently, here's hoping.
One of the things that has been taking up excessive time is getting the catalogue ready for the next auction, Auction 5. I have not mentioned previous auctions on here frequently as there has not been anything of huge interest to the US market, we do have a few interesting items this time around which I feel are worth bringing to your attention?

For the fruit jar collectors, we have a few Australian Fruit Jars including the super rare PINT size Chicago Fruit Jar, Lot 245 in the auction.

We have a nice American pot lid from X Bazin in an elongated octagonal shape, this is Lot 380 in the auction.

There is a superb rarity in the bittters field, Dr Grants Dandelion Bitters, New York, this is a cabin bitters embossed on the four shoulder panels, of which there are only two or three undamaged examples known including this one, we believe this to be a Melbourne company from the late 1800's. This is Lot 384 in the auction.

Possibly the most significant item in the auction is an American cathedral pickle that was found in Australia. It has remnants of an iron or graphite pontil and is almost certainly from the Willington Glassworks. A superb, highly detailed piece of glass, this is Lot 190 in the auction.

To view pictures, please log on to our website, we have the full catalogue up for viewing at www.abcrauctions.com

Yes it is a nice lid, and very rare here in Melbourne as well. This one has been repaired, having been in two halves unfortunately.

Here is the Willington pickle, I love this piece with the fine details to the panels and the nice wide, squat shape, oh, and that pontil as well!

Here is the PINT Chicago, extremely rare in this small size. This has a lot of scratching and so could do with a polish, but when it comes to rarity, they do not come much harder to get than this.

Here is the Bazin, perfumer pot lid from Philadelphia. These are found in Australia as this piece would have been many years ago now.

Last one for now, the Dr Grants Dandelion Bitters, New York. Even though it has New York embossed on it, this is actually NOT from New York. Us Aussies had some weird ideas back then, as we do now too, and so it is not uncommon for our companies to produce American sounding items such as this and the Chicago jar in a previous post.
This bottle is one of only a few that we know of in complete, undamaged condition.
