Thanks for sharing! I live in Erie so it was neat to find your post. I was blessed to find an old dump on my land 50 feet from my back door on a ridge! I know the old farm house just up through the woods is where all the items came from and I know the house was built in 1840 so I would love to...
I am in the process of having a bottle cabinet made that will be oak with glass shelves. I was wondering how other collectors secure your bottles down so that they don't slightly move if the case were to be lightly bumped. I have heard of people putting a small loop of tape under them but maybe...
The seam stops halfway up the neck. The top of the metal cork screw looks like a beeshive kind of springlike but tight. I guess it might have been polish. The site it was found at is on my land that dates the old farm house to 1840. The items I find in the dump range from 1860-1920's as far as I...
I know a picture would help but I am so tech difficient so I will do my best to describe it.
3" bottle found with small metal corkscrew looking device inside. The metal item was inside a thick white chalk like material.
I will try to get a picture up next week.
Thanks![:)]
I really hope someone can help me because it has been driving me nuts for some time now. I have been clearing this dump in my back yard for 3 years now and date it from about 1875-1930 from all of the items that I have found.
What in the world is this? I found this in a dump in backyard on the ridge. It is apx 4"x4" width and 1" thick. Crude hole drilled through center. Thank you for any help.
I put some pictures up if someone could please help me out with a possible date to the bottle. The photos are with the 1st post. Sorry but I am not very computer savvy.
Thanks, Bill
I will try to get a picture up soon. The bottle looks to be a medicine bottle about 7 inches tall. The seam stops at the shoulder and it says 4 oz full measure on the sides of the bottle. It reads just like this: The W. M Griffin company
Fort Wayne Indiana USA
I dug a bottle the other day that reads The W.M Griffin Company Fort Wayne Indiana USA. I was wondering if anyone has info on this bottle? I would really like a general date to when it may have been made. Sorry but I do not have a picture to post.
Thanks, Bill
I'm sorry if I should know this answer but I am new and still just learning.[:)] What date do you place bottles that have pontil's? I have dug an old dump on my property finding old bottles but only one broken base with this pontil on it.
Thanks, Bill
