    Got a stumper.......

A great place to see and sell insulators is Pole Top Discoveries. I believe it’s an Ohio based outfit. I once bought an ink on their auction site but insulators are their real forte. The folks there are also a great resource for identifying your insulators.

Thanks for the information. Amazed how you found this! Great informative article.

    Need help

Picked this up at a show today. Marked at $20.00, I traded a cracked hutch from New Orleans for it. Both the dealer and I were skeptical on real age and use. It’s 5 1/2”H, is pretty thin glass, and will fit in my hand. It is as crude as it gets. The mouth looks like the slot or opening was...

    WANTED: BEER CANS

    I like your disease.

    Diving for bottles

I do a lot of open water diving. If you had trouble with clearing at 10’, it was not the system issue. Might have been a temporary thing (ear or sinus problem) or no proper instruction on clearing procedures. That’s one of the many things SCUBA certification helps with. I suggest anyone using a...

    Friday Five

Five teakettles. All “straight eights”. Three blown, two cut glass. Happy Friday.

    Glass egg- Most unusual find

Never have seen one of those. Very nice find!

    Never seen this one

I grew up in Laurel and still don’t know what that W means. If it is associated with the distributor, I believe the local Watkins family may have been owners at one time but as I don’t collect coke bottles, it may have something to to with the manufacturing process or a factory designation for...

    Odd open pontiled bottle.

    Sorry, it’s 9.5” h.

    Odd open pontiled bottle.

Here’s an example I got from a New Orleans digger. He called it a truffle oil bottle. I haven’t any personal knowledge of the use.

    Bottles turning purple?

This is why I love this site. I can’t imagine having resources like this during most of my bottle collecting days. Just ask and someone out there can help. Here’s my contribution. A 1/2 pint uServo milk. I did not apply any contrast to see the embossing, just white light to show color with no...

    Cobalt inks?

Concur. Twentieth century machine made inks. About 3-5 dollars for decorative value if in very good condition with no chips or cracks.

    Stone axe

That’s as good a guess as any. The experts say possum, deer, turtle, or alligator. The artist was a bit of a impressionist.

    Very unique Medusa Bottle

The seal is missing but looks like a mid to late twentieth century absinthe bottle. Maybe brandy but weird.

    Just in from France

Very good hand painting on this one for sure.

    Just in from France

I just got in this great painted teakettle from a French eBay auction. It’s a M333 from Joe Mathews’ book. The paint is near perfect. Hard to find perfect paint that hasn’t been redone and I believe this one is original. You do have to be careful on eBay. If you go there and search for...

    Stone axe

Nice job on the reproductions! Here’s a small real one which I can’t date as was a surface find with no context. I also have included a few pictures of the effigy pot in the background. There is an ongoing discussion as to what creature it depicts. I’ll include our guesses after a few of you...

One picture how many can it appeal to?

A few comments are in order here. After spending time with this community for a bit, I find this site, friendly, informative, helpful, and full of people who want to share their love of collecting and help others with the same enthusiasm. A better quote describing the mixed feelings of the...

    Recent Auction finds

Thanks! I especially like the color striations/streaks in the cut glass example.
