Dug this up in Northampton, Mass. At first, I thought it was a rubber floor mat, but closer inspection proved otherwise. It is a comic book printing plate titled, "SPEEDY RABBIT." It is a reverse image of the cover. It is roughly from 1963. I believe it is one-of-a kind, therefore maybe...

Could these be pre-1900?
All I found Today was this insulator. I found it first thing and threw it aside. But then I found nothing else all day. After hours of worrying if I'd have anything to post on the website, I went back and picked it up. Hey, what do you know? IT'S EMBOSSED!!
Anybody know how old it could...
Unfortunately, I only usually get one shot at a certain area. Once I do my work, I can't go digging it back up. But, rest assured that if I find any indication of glass, ash, etc., I check the area thoroughly.

Didn't even have to work for it. Looked down and there it was. It made my day.
It is in great condition, I'll have to try to clean it well. Dirt shows up easily on white glass.
Here are the others...
1. Baker's flavoring extract
2. Dr. hooker's cough and croup syrup
3. murine eye remedy co. chicago
4. glyco thymoline
5. glyco thymoline (same words different shape)
Found a few bottles today. I think this one is the best. I've never found one like it.
"JNO SULLIVAN"
"PHARMACIST"
"BOSTON"
Any guess on age or value? Post the rest later.
Thanks,
-Andy
Hey petty, I found about 7 excavations, all with bottles and other glass all around them. The 7 spots were over a very large area(75x75)-none larger than 4Lx4Wx1D.
Bottles everywhere.......
here's another pic.
These are pics of a surface dump in Western Mass. I heard about the dump about 4 years ago, and actually went looking for it once. But very thick briars prevented me from finding it even though I had very good directions to it. But early spring seems like the best time to get by the briars...
This might make the "careful" privvy diggers stomach turn, but this is how I do it at work. Unfortunately I cant do it the right way.. Some of the excavators can reach right to the cab, so I dont even have to get off my lazy butt.
My osgood's isn't pontiled. Want to trade? kidding....
These are from a jobsite in florence mass. Haven't been there in a couple of months because the frost was too thick. But spring is here!!!
I left all the bottles on the left but kept the 6 bottles on the right.

Hey ron,
I live in hadley. I actually have a potential digging site lined up at a house built in 1830. But I haven't ever dug up a privy before. It shouldn't be too tough, because there is solid clay 3 feet down, so it should be easy to find a privvy. Started probing in november, but...
