Thanks for the reply! Its a very cool bottle. Would the paper label have been placed into the circle/oval area?

    Help with a bottle

I was given this bottle that was found in an old shed (among others). I'm curious about its age and anything I can learn about it. It appears to have an applied lip. I can feel the bump inside the neck. There are also some wavy lines that follow the contour of the shoulder area. I love this...

    Help identifying this bottle

Thanks K6Tim. I appreciate the info. It was tough getting the picture of the bottom even THAT clear. :) The seam doesn't go all the way up. That was another hard picture to snag. In the 2nd pic, if you look closely you can see the seam running up the side and terminating right above the...

    Help identifying bottle

Hello! I purchased this bottle at an antique store with my kids. I haven't been able to find much information about it. It seems pretty imperfect..which we love. I'm curious if anyone can give an approximate date range. I paid $10 for it. Hoping we got good value. Thanks in advance! -Kerry

Thanks guys. If its not a pontil mark, and not an automatic bottle machine mark...any idea what the mark is from?

    Help identifying this bottle

Hello, I'm curious about the age of this bottle, and what it was used for. The seam looks like it stops at the shoulder. The bottom has a circular scar...would this be from a pontil? Thank you in advance! Cheers! -Kerry

    Question about digging a privy

Thanks for the guidance Willong. I will make sure that I am prepared and go slowly if in fact I do locate antique bottles in their (or any) privy. I'm sure there are going to be some heart-breaking broken glass bottles, but I hope to minimize them. Cheers! -Kerry

Hey Fred, Thank you for the kind words and for the advice. I will be sure not to disturb too much ground under the poles. I believe they are active. I appreciate everyone's experience! -Kerry

    Question about digging a privy

I think the property line is a bit further back. Behind the poles is their fenced in horse paddock. There is a bit of a stone wall just beyond the horse paddock, so I assumed that was the property line. I could be wrong though. Things change over the years and we can only piece together the...

    Question about digging a privy

Wow, yeah that does look like it was certainly worth it! Shes a beauty! These poles happen to be in the middle of this property, and also slightly on a decline. I dont know if that changes things. It won't hurt to do a test dig though. At least then I'll be able to sleep at night. =)
