I recently picked up these two bottles. One from Houston and one from Galveston. I am theorizing (sounds better then guessing) that these were either creamers, or maybe used to serve something like an aperitif.
Can anyone confirm or guess with me?
Does anyone have something similar? From...
I found this flask going through some of my dad's things. All he could say about it was that his dad said it was a confederate canteen. Idk about that, but on the other end of the spectrum, a different source speculated maybe European origin.
Love the bubbles and crude lip. Base has an area...
A recent pickup:
Dr J H McLEAN
MEDICINE CO
ST LOUIS MO
I normally stay away from St Louis medicines but it was a slow day and the price ($3) and color were right.
I see this guy has several patented medicines out there. This amber seems less common just based off of internet pings...
I recently dug this bottle. Full story on the Galveston Dig thread, but thought this deserved its own thread.
In the ground I could make out that it was an amber square, and could make out that it was embossed stomach bitters. Thought it was a hostettors for sure! Wiping away the mud I had...
I got tipped off to an estate sale but couldn't make it until the last day. I dutifully went, expecting anything of interest to already be gone. Glad I did! For the princely sum of $30, I walked away with:
1. Fancy Aqua Grimble Vinegar London
2. Emerald green Hathorn Spring mineral water...
I picked this up at an estate sale recently. I can't say I've seen something this fancy with this much age outside some of the cathedral pickles.
I haven't been able to find much out about it stateside, other then that this company had a long history and that there is an unmarked cobalt...
I picked this flask up today. I was drawn to the tapered lip, and was pleased to see it was whittled and pontiled.
Can anyone here provide info or speculate on age or origin? Thanks in advance.
Howdy all. Sharing a pic of my two amber orange crush bottles. I didn't realize they were different sizes until I brought the 2nd one home.
I've been going through some old threads trying to read up on the brand. Seems that the 8oz is a bit more uncommon size.
I have a few questions.
I...
I picked up several inks recently from an estate sell. There were 100s of inks, and there was a kind of feeding frenzy to pick them up when they opened the door.
I'm not sure what to make of this one though. The shape kind of looks like a turtle, or maybe tea kettle ink? Milk glass (can't...
Looking for help on this one. Interested in what it might have held. I'd date to around the 1880s or 1890s based on what was dug around it. Smooth base. About 7.5" tall.
I had a knowledgeable collector suggest it was a peppermint oil bottle. The color is right, but it looks like a lot of...
Here is an early embossed RC soda. It has a debossed RC on the shoulder and PROPERTY OF NEHI BOTTLING CO around the base. The base is embossed CONTENTS 12 FL OZ 3R*.
There are some oddities with this one. First the fact that it's embossed. All the others I've seen are acls. The 3R*...
I dug this little beauty today. It came out of an 1870s trash pit. I'm assuming it a perfume. Is there any way to tie it to a specific brand or manufacturer? Can anyone identify? Or better yet, how does one research a bottle like this?
I dug this a little while back. I had probed out an interesting spot, unfortunately everything was broken. I did find this though, which was exciting because everything else I've found this age and color has been unembossed. Definitely German and circa 1880.
I'm looking for a Pic of an...
For your viewing pleasure today. This has been in my possession for quite a while. It was the oldest bottle I had for a long time. I've tried researching it a couple of times, but never really found anything.
Any thoughts on rarity or value? I had someone approach wanting a trade and...
I recently acquired this great pictoral Houses Indian Tonic. I've not had a lot of luck trying to research it though. All my search hits have come up with the very similar Clemons Indian Tonic. Both are "prepared by Geo. W. House", who I understand was based out of Nashville. The bottle...
I have yet to dig an intact milk, but did dig this shard a few weeks back. Thanks to my research minded friends who helped me tag as a Channelview, TX dairy. I found a whole example today at a local antique store.
I have a hard time throwing anything away so I though it might be cool to turn some headless crowns and hutches into cups (or toothbrush/candle holders, anything to try to save it from being discarded). I used a bottle cutter to take the tops off and then a dremel to smooth the edge.
Any ideas...
Howdy! New to the site. Long time collector, and I became an active digger in the last year or so (I think COVID may have contributed to this, with everything else being closed). I collect Texas items with a focus on the Galveston area. Although recently I find im interested in anything I...
