Cleveland flask embossed twice w/ poison

Moved some dirt yesterday in my favorite dump ( been digging there for almost 30 years). Not a lot to show except this one pint flask. I haven't seen it before but it's probably common? Just thought it was neat as the word poison is embossed twice on it. M. BERNSTEIN & SON WINES & LIQUORS...

Leon, I probed that. It's a well, or more likely, a cistern, along the river in B-Way, right? My six footer hit a cement bottom on it. I believe it was already dug and that is why you see those shards along the edges. If you can find an actual privy in that overgrown jungle, you will...

He had no qualms about saying that the "property owner" was standing on the OUTSIDE of his own property (shoved off of his own property with a court order, so the Archies could dig) with a firearm. Geez, do you think the PUBLIC who own these lands want YOU digging there, jug head? At least...

SLATE CLEANER

Hi Red, Reading the patent information further, it would appear that there was a cork (with a small hole in it, to allow water to pass) in the mouth. A sponge would be wired to the cork and would be used to wipe the chalk marks off. A screw cap would be fastened to the thread on the bottom...

Cincinnati/St Joe embossed/pictured hock wine

Hey guys, Thanks for the replies and info. The company matches, yes. This is NOT a Rye bottle, though, it is a 12" tall hock wine. So, they obviously put out wine, as well as rye whiskey. Hmmm. If you think back like me, an embossed hock wine is a rarity. Amber makes it even better...

Great pics. I think I would have brought some shorts and a plastic bag, then gone in that creek with my clothes on, washed off everything and changed in to the shorts. :) Bill

Rick, There are several reasons that I date the bottle to the late 60's-early 70's. Henry Putnam patented that closure in 1859. It was primarily in use between the 60's and 80's. Michael McArron was in business in the late 60's- early 70's (in Port Huron) and then died. When we get a...
