    I have some questions about Ball jars that need answering.

    Some of the porcelain lined zinc cap lids will be embossed on the inside..... Genuine Porcelain Lined Zinc Cap for Ball Jars. Or.. Boyd's Genuine Porcelain Lined Zinc Cap For Mason Jars. Glad to be of help, & welcome to the forum.

    The other lid is not milk glass, it is porcelain on the inside & the lid is made of zinc. These are know as porcelain lined zinc cap lids and are common closures for many old fruit jars. I hope this helps you out, & thank you for sharing.

    Cleaning gunk from the river

    Try putting water & efferdent (denture cleaner) inside the bottles & let them soak for a day or so. I have used this method many times & it has worked well on getting sticky substances & other residue out, along with scrubbing with a wire bottle brush, but let them soak before scrubbing.

    Thanx surfaceone, no i do not have a Hahne, sorry to say. But i do however have these two little honeys, among a few other pints. Although these two are not as old as the Bamberger or some of my others, i still like them and thier color.

    what color would you call this??

    Hi creeper 71, From what I can tell from your pics, your jar is aqua-marine color {bluish-green} which is a fairly comon color for the Mason Patent 1858 jars, hope this helps & thanks for shareing.
