Took the camera to get a few shots of the hole I got going. there appears to be three layers. The top layer is 30's, then a 10's layer, then the original swamp mud layer where the older stuff is imbedded in the mud. Very hard digging. Up the hill is alayer of ash that runs about three feet deep. Hardly any glass. May have been ash from the locomotives. This dump is near an old railroad depot, and the trains still runs, but doesn't stop.
That pile of dirt in the hole is about six feet tall. Backfilled as I did the edges. I had to dig a trench to drain the water out of the hole. Probably from the packed layers of rust which are like cement even wet. Slow digging.
