I have been having good luck in the shops lately. The jar on the left has very crude lettering and a nice amber swirl/streak from the base up to the lip. The one on the right has a flaw line that entirely circles the jar. The raised lettering Boyd Cap was on one of these when I bought it. I have a total of $15. in the two. George

Sounds like you have been doing well in the shops George . I always did like the half gallons , especially the crude ones . At one time I had a collection af around thirty jars on shelve in the garage . I never had a lot of rare ones , but there were a few quite nice ones . Got rid of them several years back in favor of more bottle space , wish the devil I had kept them now .

Very crude jar to be sure....nice embossing on both....

However, even though it looks like an "R"....the actually RALLL jar embossing is very very distinct.

You have what looks to be a very early variation of the BALLL MASON jar...very nice amber in it....congrats on those finds...I myself....I like that jar on the right....great embossing, crude...nice very nice.

OOPS! Thank you David. I took the time to look at a picture of a RALLL on the Ball Jar Collectors web site, AFTER seeing your post. At least I will know in the future.

Now one thing I did not point out in my last post...that BALLL MASON PATENT 1858 hg is a great example of Ball Brothers not wasting anything.

Your hg is a reworked mold, notice how the word BALLL and MASON are much more pronounced than the rest of the embossing? THe PATENT 1858 is much weaker...extending the life of this mold after that series
was ended.

I have several of these jars....just a great example....nice hg to have.

I mostly collect really crude jars. These two are nice jars for a Ball collector, a half gallon or a general collection. I would be willing to trade for one or more very crude jars. George
