My buddy Gene and I went out early this morning and scored some nice finds. There were a few little rain showers, just enough to cool us off. Still, it was humid and nasty, but we had a good haul. My favorites were a half-pint embossed Lewistown Pure Milk and a scarcer French Richards Queen Florida Water. Others were an Atwood's bitters, a Lewistown Whistle soda, a painted Lewistown Pure quart with mostly good paint and a few others.Gene got a pint and quart Lewistown Pure embossed, two Lewistown Orange Crushes and a SWEET embossed pint Goss Pleasant View Dairy milk. More to come this week! Jim

Lewistown Pure Milk Company 1/2 pint, 1934. I love the double-collar lip on these.

Queen Florida Water/French Richards & Co./Philadelphia. Not a rare bottle, but one that I have not seen many of. The New York ones seem to be much more plentiful.

Hi Ben, You'll hit that good milk some day. This is my first good year for milks, I could never seem to find a good one before, now I'm getting at least a few a month. I hope it keeps up. Good luck! Jim

Here's the common Atwood's with the screwed-up spelling of what was supposed to be JAUNDICE, but somehow became JANNAICE. I guess the mold maker was either drunk or just a bad speller [:D]

Jim:

Congratulations on what appears to be another successful day of digging! Especially for Gene w/ that Goss Pleasant View Dairy bottle. According to your prior email, that should be worth some serius $$$. (Thanks for all of the good info that you provided on Mifflin Co. milks.) Keep on diggin'!!

Cap- I gotta keep the milks on a separate shelf...They're big and thick and like to pick fights with those weird, scary "skull and bones" bottles [:D]

DF- Looks like we both had a good weekend! I always thought this was strictly a 20s-30s dump, but we have been getting some 1890s stuff from this particular area towards the bottom. I found the top of a Hutch soda last week, hopefully there is a good one somewhere. Congrats again on that sweet Manchester druggist poison! Check out the APBCA website and make some contacts so you can get it listed in the book. We poison collectors love new discoveries! If you need help, just let me know.

Denny- Thanks. I'm glad the list helps. I hope you find a few of the good ones at the sale. Gene said his Goss cleaned up perfect. The embossed Goss and the embossed Clinger Highland Ave. are two of my favorite local milks. The next time you can get up to dig here, we should have some fun! Jim
