Robby Raccoon
Trash Digger
Water-based bottle hunting is how I started. It's given me all my best pieces. I am curious as to how many of you do most of your bottle hunting in water and what have you found. Furthermore, what is the best way to water-hunt other than feeling with your feet and without diving in (The lake is dark and full of debris, I've been tangled before in line and bump into sharp objects often)?
Another thing: Do you agree that water does a better job preserving bottles--still to slow-moving water--- or do you think being stuck in the ground keeps them best?
Okay, so I like to talk a lot. Anyway, what's the deal with state parks and their wanting to see your finds and keep them if they want?
I do not know if the pictures will post, so... but they show bottles I found in the lake last year. Including one ACL Squirt, three 100+ year-old Coca-Cola (One's in half, one's cracked, one's intact--it would appear, from the metal pellet still in one, they were used as B-B target practice--) and 2 bottles from before prohibition. These show the water-based hunt as successful, whereas my land-based ones usually turn up shattered glass and bugs.I know many are inclined to disagree with me as to where to hunt as being better or worse or equal and such.
