Hi , i need help identifying some canning items found in a family members cellar.
In the pics, left to right, diamond pattern jar, fluted side jar, hash marked top and bottom jar, green juice/water jar, and presto canning jar. I would like to know what they geld if possible, and dates.
Thanks, Lori
The first 3 are mid-century food jars. Hard to say what exactly they held, all sorts of products were sold in jars like that. The green one is a refrigerator bottle for storing your juice or water. I think the date code indicates 1957, but I'm not sure why it's a single digit. I thought Owens Illinois used double digit date codes at that point. Maybe someone more familiar with them can chime in. Your Presto canning jar appears to be the oldest of the lot, I'd estimate it to date to the 1930s.
Oh thank you. Those dates add up because one of the first couple jars had a zinc lid on it with a hand written number 50 on it. Didnt think it was the price! That would have been very expensive back then. The date of 1950 sounds more like it. Thanks again.
