Any idea of what the bottle might have contained and how old it might be?

Probably wine, but I'm afraid it's not old, but just made to sorta look that way.

It has the I inside of an O for the Owens-Illinois glass mark and a date code of 1977. I agree with Sandchip on content. Probably wine.

it's an old Almaden bottle . use to drink that wine .
