I bought an unusual ceramic bottle in an antique shop in Germany two weeks ago. He said he had purchased in Amsterdam. Its gray/blue 10 inches high embossed on one side Dr. J. Hostetter's Stomagh (sic) Bitters. No base markings. I did quick google and ebay search with no luck.Anyone heard of this? Thanks

I'll always stand corrected but this appears to be one of the relatively modern slip cast pieces sold originally as decorative items.
There are many varieties including codd bottles in the UK.
They were never meant to deceive but unwary or novice collectors have been caught out by them.

The example below has been turned into a table lamp and the vendor from Germany describes the bottle as a 'Retro Replica'.
