Not a detecting find, but an eyeball find while scuba diving for bottles...I was mumbling to myself underwater as to why I often recover early copper coins but rarely silver ones when this little beauty flipped up in front of me. After confirming the type and date I uncovered a Union Infantry Coat Button and two IH pennies dated 1860 (fatty) and 1907 respectively. Who needs a detector when you can eyeball this stuff while digging a river botttom...lol

good find , coin book lists some values for that coin in just good condition worth around $27 but value goes up based on condition , since it was underwater so long its tough to say how it grade as it still has alot of the engraving on the coin , after use alot would fade away . i found an old canadian quarter once as a kid when swimming at lock docks but it dates was faded away however based on design it was from around ww1-20's era , anyways its neat to find something that has been under water for over 100 years at least

Brilliant! Lovely find, way to go! Hard to beat a seated quarter, especially in that condition. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the future.
