I was thinning out the collection of ancient projectile weapons a few days back and decided that these 7 pieces could be auctioned to the highest bidder as financial forum fodder.

The ruler at left measures 6 inches. Originally, 2 had sockets and 5 had tangs. One arrowhead, 2nd from right, seems to have been heated and then hammered straight after it was excavated. It had probably gotten bent after striking someone's armor, or a particularly thick Slavic skull.

They are a mix from Germany and from "Eastern Europe" (probably Bulgaria) and are most likely Medieval. Many sellers claim a Roman origin but most of the forms are reminiscent of 10th-16th century styles, the later ones perhaps used by or against the marauding Turks or similar evil Godless heathens.

The auction ends at 9:00 PM next Thursday, and will be shipped to the winner free of charge after I receive notification that the funds have been sent via paypal to the administrator(s) of this forum.

Bidding starts at 99 cents!

You were 1 hour, 15 minutes 44 secs too late with your bid.. hopefully the management of this auction is feeling a tad flexible... [;)]

Hey Guys,

I couldn't find where Plumby put a drop dead time on this auction. These guys are a little esoteric for the likes of me. I was puzzled by the, shall we say, lack of action, on these guys. I went looking in Unfamiliar Waters, and was impressed by values seen, but, I know diddly about this field.

Plumby's probably studying some stuff. He'll be by presently, i bet.

Hey there folk,

Cyberdigger was right, I am feeling flexible so I will accept the 10.00 bid from VA is for diggers if he would like make the bid official. I guess the protocol is to contact Roger AKA "Admin" and arrange payment, then after I get notification I will ship it free of charge to the addtess provided in PM.

Surfaceone, I should have been studying but I was actually as a Gov't Mule concert at the Canopy Club here at UIUC when teh auctions ended. Best show I've seen them put on, and Jackie Greene as an opening act was stellar as well. The 3 hour morning class on Friday really sucked as I was in no state of mind to discuss Marx's economic theory, but I survived.
