WOW!! What a strange tangent this post has veered off into. Verbal semantics are acceptable in some instances, but a bottle collecting site isn't one of them. Typing intelligently, with correct sentence structure and spelling, is really all that is necessary to get your point across.

That being said, how about another "cheap shot". A very thin and fragile capers, with fluted sides and an expanded mouth.

I don't think we require intelligence, correct sentence structure or spelling on this site.[;)] Do you visit often?[:D] All bottles and no play does make one a dull boy!

Keep posting pictures, so I can imagine holding them in my hands. mmmm... nice![:)]

edit - oops - big letter in the middle of a word - had to fix it!

This is what the archys refer to as "context, but we just call it "poop dirt". It's the privy use layer and it's soil can give an indicator of the diet the occupants. These folks ate a bunch of wild ducks, and other game, but little pork or bovine meats. You can't see it in this pic, but there is a decent pickle just an inch below the mess of busted ironstone and junk.

Oops, here it is! Just fluted shoulders and plain sides, but with a MONSTER open pontil mark. There were at least 8 big pontilled square cathedrals in that pit, all busted. It'd hard to believe that any of those fragile bottles survived the "ironstone onslaught", but a dozen did.

Hey Michael,

Thanks for the pictures--weird tangents or otherwise, at least we got to see some photos of your dig and finds--I appreciate them. Please keep in mind that a single photo of a group of bottles is another way to defeat the single post limitation.

To the cultural debaters; to quote Rodney King: "CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?"

Probably not--not when there's over SIX BILLON souls on this tiny planet. There, that ought to get them all going again!

I'm putting on my helmet and flak jacket, cause I remember what Bart Simpson said when he was asked to provide an example of a paradox: "Well, your damned if you do, and damned if you don't."

Cheers!

Will
