I actually prefer a wet suit to a dry suit. They are nice and thick, easy to manuever around in, and they keep you relatively warm if you have good gear. There are a few drawbacks. First, you get a really cold blast when you enter the water. These things keep you warm by your own body heat. So, when you get in, the water enters your suit at the outside temperature. Very cold. After a minute or two, your body warms it up and you feel pretty good for an hour or two. If you go too long, the cold water starts to sap the heat out of you. The next bad thing about wet suits is taking them off. When it's cold outside, the steam just radiates off of you. Best to get dried and dressed quick! If you find something good, the cold doesn't matter. If you get skunked, it's terrible.
