Found these two bottles at work tonight. A nice aqua blue Dr. Hayden's and an old green chem bottle embossed "C.S. & CoLtd / 708. (English dating between 1872-1915)
The Haydens has seed bubbles all through the neck, base embossed VIBURNUM COMPOUND.
The paper label reads "FORMALDEHYDE", then a bunch of instructions. Under that it reads J.DB. FRASER & SON established 1828 Pictou N.S.
So I did a little searching and found this..
First to manufacture chloroform in Canada was Pharmacist J.D.B. Fraser, of Pictou Nova Scotia, who supplied it to doctors less than four months after Simpson’s first report. First Canadian physician to use chloroform in surgery was Dr. W.J. Almon of Halifax, who employed it in February, 1848. On March 22, 1848, Pharmacist Fraser supplied chloroform used during the birth of his son.
and since Dr. Haydens Viburnum was sold sometime between 1856-1933 I am hoping this is an earlier version of the bottle, can anyone help me with that?
