Hello all,
Can anyone please tell me if these jars I found are worth anything and how old they are?
The one on the left looks like an old milk or juice jar. The other two are embossed with water on one side and juice on the other.
Thank you
Ferd

I would also like to know the same about these jars.
The first one on the left is a Ball mason jar.
The second one from the left has Similac 20 embossed on it.
The third one from the left has Dromdary embossed on it.
The last one has three sides. Triangle shape.

thank you

I also found all these medicine bottles. Is there any value here and how old are they?
Again thank you very much for the help.
The clear medicine bottle on the left has Duraglas embossed on it along with measurments.
The last brown one to the far right has Sani-glass embossed on it along with measurments and Brockway embossed on the bottom.

OK last one I promise. How old are these Milk of Magnesia bottles and how much are they worth if anything?
The large one is about 7" tall.
Thank you

Well ferdwear; The best rule of thumb is that if the mold seam continues up to the top of the threaded face, means that the thread was formed in a neckring and a guidering to create the sealing surface, it is the product of an ABM (Automatic Bottle Machine) and therefore has the value of glass cullet for recycling. It looks to me like most of yours fall into that category. Sorry for the reality of it.
Try to bring home bottles where the finish was formed by tooling which created the shape with a tool that stuck in the neck and shaped the specified finish by rotating the tool on a ring of applied hot glass.. Finishes made with this marking tells you about the hand forming that was involved. Then the next thing to learn about is the pontil markings that are found on the bottom of the bottles. If it is a round tubular looking pontil ring - this will tell you that it was formed by using the previously made bottles, blowpipe which had a bit of the previous bottles neck glass left on the blowpipe. And this left over glass was kept hot by laying on a rack where that remaining glass end was exposed to the heat in the glory hole of the furnace. From there you need to learn about the different iron punte rods that were used to provide a handle for putting the finish on the top of the hand blown bottles.
Then you will have bottles of value. There are a lot of other things to learn but you will be more successful in your quest.
The next thing is to learn about the mold materials used and how to tell when a bottle was made in a wooden mold, if the bottle has Cold Mold Ripple in the glass, you will know that it was made before they started chilling the mold iron. ETC. for as far as you choose to learn and understand what you have found. That should give you some help!!
Best of luck, RED Matthews

Thanks for the info RED. I found everyone of these bottles in the same area. As well as a bunch of soda and wine bottles. I have never collected them before, but now I am happy to have them. Even though they are not worth much if anything. They are still somthing that is not currently made anymore so I feel like I have a nice start for a collection. I pulled out over 200 bottles in three days there. The first day I picked up all the ones I found laying around. The second day I looked a little harder and moved some leaves around. The third day I was digging. I reached two feet deep and was still pulling out glass. I will continue at this spot because I know there is more out there. I just might find that one good one.
The odd thing is that so many were right on top of the ground after so many years. I even found one coke bottle from 1915 but it was broke. It to was laying right on top of the leaves. Go figure.
thank you
Ferd
