Hey folks -
I know Zane wanted to see this place, but thought others would like to see it too. This place has close ties to Jefferson (don't they all) and is early. I've found - test dug at least one privy and the back of the house photo, I'm standing next to the ice house.

It is for sale - only $350,000 , which is cheap for 7+ acres (was 800) and around 5000 sq. ft. That's my BIG diggin' truck on the left, for scale.

A look at the school house - left of my truck. Graveyard (walled and not shown) is to the right.

The rear or back of the estate. The icehouse is loaded w/ trash. I must do a test hole. The folks who gave us permission said we should bring in a backhoe. I told them I don't have one, but I have digging buddies - on standby. [:D] [:D]

Kelley - It also is very close to the river. Aren't all plantations near a river or water source [:)]. I walked a lot of the land and it's a very nice place. Wish I was diggin' there tomorrow, but I'm heading to the city to dig.

Niko - I didn't take any photos of the graves. Looking at the front of the place, the cemetary is on the right and back. Just guessing, it has between 20-30 family plots.

The man across the road from this watches this place very close. He stopped in and checked on me the first day there. He told me he was born in that house and showed me the room and ice house that afternoon.

350K sounds darnright cheap. My little vintage 1924 house is worth a bunch more than that and only has a 40X100 lot. It's a nice house, for sure. Looks like they ripped down part of a vintage addotion on the back to add the cheezy deck. Is the school part of the deal, too? What a great display room it would make.

"You have any pics of the graveyard? Is the graveyard on the property for sale? "

Cemetary's are usually covered under state law as being the responsiblity of the town in which they reside. i.e. taking care of fencing so animals don't get in and destroy the tombstones. If there is a family plot on the property would most certainly go with the property, however the state would protect, in most cases, as it is a point of historic reference.
