You folks are spot on. This is unquestionably "the same animal" as the repro German half-post bottles that have been discussed at length. Nice looking but certainly "not old."

Kungfufighter.. can you send me a link to other pics such as mine? What makes you so sure? It just seems so wobbly, and mishapen, that it had to be old. What do you look for?

There are a number of threads on the topic. Search for "German half-post" and go from there. The general technique of blowing bottles has not changed for more than 2000 years so it is not uncommon for modern bottles to have some characteristics (crude glass, uneven sides, etc.) of earlier bottles.
