I'm not sure it matters really, it's a price "guide" and I think about 15 years old to boot. I've never seen a price guide that's TRULY reliable but MAY help with rarity.MHO
In Volume 2 it says rarity 2 (out of 5). But it also gives the value back then as $150. Not sure how the value is calculated, because one of the High Point, NC bottles is a rarity 3 and valued at $60, and another is rarity 2 and valued at $40.
Really? I thought all peanut bottles were valued at atleast $100 in the ayers guide? Of course I know that doesn't mean that's what you would get if you sold one. Usually they sell for about half.
I'm guessing Ayers researched how long each plant was in operation and how long that bottler used that particular bottle. By knowing that, you could determine how rare a bottle is. The no name bottle is probably a general guess.
