Divorcing myself momentarily from thinking, talking and pontificating about all the high price painted labels sold lately, I thought about a little project building a great picture collection on the cheap. To pass the time. Those have been some great looking bottles...holey cow, though!. Three hundred here and six hundred there and rattle off a couple of two fitties in there. Or bottles that haven't seen such heights in year, are now doing so. I'm not entirely grousing, mind you. I've got my share of great stuff, too...paid too much sometime, and too little some other times. Funny how we never complain about those 'bargains' we still seem to find. Somewhere. lol

I thought, too, that it is too great a task for one person alone. And secretly, I realized you might want to play too. I'm not really building a new collection, just a list. A list of all the super nice picture bottles that can be had for a very reasonable...no, cheap, price.
Let's say TEN BUCKS is the very top price for any bottle you nominate.
How about a category for national/regional bottles? A category for every other.
MUST have a picture label! Duh.

So, what is your favorite bang for the buck bottle?

Here is a photo showing some of the nominees for national/regional category.
Got more to add? Please do.

And here are two examples of terrific picture labels.

The Colonial can be found at under $5 just about every flea market in America.
And the Harmony Club...not too shabby for cheap.
Sidebar: a green Harmony Club was one of my first purchases...$2!

The Arctic polar bears from Conroe, TX also comes to mnd.

I'd like to try and find at least one hundred of the best images...
Nominate your favorites today!

Thanks!

Here are some additions to the Bang for the Buck collection.

Under the national/regional category: Virginia Dare...several versions, I am sure, cheap and good looking.
Also the red/yellow Chocolate Soldier, I think belongs here.
And the green glass Ski, either color combo.
Royal Palm in green/white. Yeah?
The red/white Sunrise needs to be here...common-as-dirt-cheap.
Speaking of which.., Brownie in brown/white is certainly cheap enough.
How about Julep? Yellow/white showing a nice filled glass.

And the smaller bottler category: Diamond from Nebraska. I don't know why there are so many down here...
And I'll get a pic up later of my favorite local picture Big Bang for the Buck Bottle.

I was going to say Black Kow too. I think Strike, Big Shot, Viking, Donald Duck, Sour Puss, and Kick give you a lot of Bang for the Buck.

Greaty additions!
It's got my juices flowin'...
I found one of my collection inventory lists from...let's just say sometime inside of the first two or three years collecting sodas, still thinking I might be the only one doing it and never yet having been to a show.

These are some of the bottle in my display back then.

Dream of California, Conway, AR and Howell's Root Beer...pictured here.
Jet-Up, r/w sometimes on green. Is this the only cheap airplane?
Jefferson...the grounhog.
Pep...r/w on green weightlifter.
Fawn, esp. the blk/w
Dunn's, so-called 3-color...Statue of Liberty rocks!
Squeeze. Buck...several available. Kramer's y/blk waiter.
Husky. Ranch Club. White Eagle.

...more to come.
I think the total is nearly sixty...
