This is a 4 1/4 inch tall Beech Nut jar, I picked up up lately. It has a blank oval slug plate on the back. NOL or NO1 over an L embossed on the base. Is there anyway to estimate if it contained smoked bacon, (yeah I looked it up), snuff, chewing tobacca, coffee possibly with chicory or maybe a miniature cotton bale! Any ideas appreciated. Just know I love it.

There's only two possibilities I can think of. Do you know anyone with a forensics lab? [:)] Maybe there are minute traces left.
That or go back and find the lid or label.
Cool jar though.

Yes but I think was was later, 30's I think. This looks more pre-depression to me, like 20's.
I still don't know what the top looks like. I'm guessing fully ABM screw top of the later Mason type thread.
I still vote for peanut butter (like Jumbo had) or some other food . Ham and bacon aren't out of the question.

I've dug several of these little jars over the years, pints and a half pint, all had ground lips, aqua and clear. One was particularly memorable, had most of the contents still sealed and was certainly a meat product of some type, I've never attempted to clean anything with contents in or near the house since! PU! [:'(]

Hi, it is a screw top, it is a late 19 teens- 1920's jar, I will post a photo of the back and base too, too cloudy today. It has some well placed bubbles. Thanks
