Welcome to the forum ! What you have is a flavored soda , like grape, orange or some other flavor. The wire closure is probably not original. Would have taken a crown top. May have had a paper label too. Not a lot of value. But it's a decent start. Find anything else ? Mitch
Welcome to the forum. Goodman is correct that this was a flavored drink other than Coca Cola. The patent date for this bottle is Nov. 27, 1923 ( which was a Thursday) Thaksgiving that year was Nov. 29 th. The patent number is 63365 granted to R C Graham of Graham Glass . Hope this helps. Buster
I would assume anything that says "Soda Water" isn't Coca-Cola flavored? It's called a "Flavor Bottle" on their web page, but the Coca-Cola company has their dates wrong-- amusing, eh? Here is my version-- from good ol' Goodman himself. Lol. Albeit they hold little value, I love how they look. Great piece, and welcome, my friend.
While I am by no means an expert on bottle patents, I did a rather in depth search on soda bottle patents a few years back. There are many patents of soda bottles. I was able to find most of the patents on my collection of soda bottles. There are also a variety of Soda Water bottles. The November 20, 1923 patent date on Goodman's bottle was issued to Chapman Root of the Root glass company of Terre Haute , Indiana on Patent Number 63324. The June 1, 1926 patent date on Possom's bottle was issued to Graham Glass Company of Evansville, Indiana on Patent 70281. However, the bottle appears closer to the 63365 Graham patent. Possom, Is the bottle that you have marked as to the bottle glass company? While these bottles do not bring the price of Coca Cola bottles (Coke bottles) they are fun to collect all the different versions of Soda Water bottles. One thing that seems to be common on a lot of the Soda Water Bottles is the Stars. Buster
The bottle does say property of the coca cola bottling co con. the only other writing is small numbers at the bottom after the patented info, 1188E and 62(?) iS the wire and porcelain cap not an original part of this bottle?
Could the 62(?) possibly be G23, G24, or G25 ? According to the Glass Bottle Marks website listed below these numbers were found on bottles. "G 23, G 24, G 25, or similar configuration, embossed along the lower heel area of soda bottles (usually seen in light aqua or light green glass), this number is normally found within a string of several other letters and/or numbers. Graham Glass Company, Evansville, Indiana. " Not sure why someone would add this type of stopper to this bottle. Could possibly have been added to seal some sort of home brewed beer or such. This type bottle was made to use the crown bottle cap.
