Thanks Matt, I'd guess about 80%+ of my houses interior is from reclaimed wood.
Maybe one day I'll do a post on it, but let me show you a little.
In 1997 I was redoing my other house. It burned in Jan. 1998, lost everthing I had except the clothes on my back and my Harley.
One of the things I was doing was a fireplace and mantle. I had done the fireplace in stone and was going to use black walnut for the mantle. I had a 2"x12", 1"x 8" and a 1"x 6" stacked up to use. When my house burned it got the wood also, but I was lucky in a way, I was ablel to salvage some of the wood as it was stacked.
The 2"x 12" was gone but the other two were saved...........................kinda. See this burned corner? This was the 1"x 6", it was in the middle of the stack so it was damaged the least. On the underside of this boad is about 3 colors of paint from some spraypaint cans I was using to restore an old pedal car, they exploded and sprayed their contents between the boards......................looks cool.
The back board is the 1"x 8". The back of it is chared, and I mean crispy. It was at the top of the stack as I recall, leaving me w/ one good side.
They did finally get used as they were intended, as a mantle just a different location.
The boards these rest on are some heart pine I had planed down from an old barn I tore down, I'd date them to around 1880-90 or so.
The red beaded boad is from a house I was able to get. It dates from around 1905-1910 or so.
I had this in the stone work around my fireplace. Had two of then but when the chimneys fell it broke the other one. This and the walnut was about all I salvaged, I did find a few other thing, but not much.
Had to use it on my new house.................................had to.
