I've always liked common bottles with a twist that makes them unique, and this one sure fits the bill. Makes you wonder what happened when the bottle was being made. Did the guy blowing it just grab whatever was there to finish the top? What is cool is that is the same form as most of the tops on these....Bill

Thanks for telling us about this one, It must have been created to satisfy someones request, No doubt about it, it would be a good conversation piece at a bottle club meeting, because it is unique. RED Matthews

THere are a couple early medicine bottles that use this same lip style.
I think it was intended to limit dripping or some other reason.
It apparently wasnt very successful as they didnt use it much.
Looking at the one I have it looks like the thin flat part would break easy if the bottle tipped over or the cork was pryed on.

I know it says London, but it looks American made. Does anybody know where it was blown? Beautiful bottle.

It looks like they stuck an insulator on top. [:D]

I used to think it was an imported product but the more I look into it that doesnt appear to be true.
The product was sold by M.A.F Harrison in New York. I see them advertised as early as 1848.
The formular was attributed to Dr Hastings in London but I dont know if any real rights were ever given.
Harrison's signiture appeared on the label.
I'm thinking its a US blown bottle.
