We get heaps of them here, mostly plain but the fancy ones are very collectable (even with broken stems).
The photo's below are just a few of mine, I'm going to put them all on a display board one of these day's [;)] .

The one with the cannon and pile of balls on it sadly has a chip on the bowl, it has a trooper with a gun on the other side.

Photo still too big [] , I try to make them as big as possible without needing to scroll, few less pixels next time [;)] .

This is a close up of the lady, I thought it was Queen Vic when I dug it but now I'm not sure.

A bit of info on broken pipes. I was reading an artical on Monkey Spoons(which I may have} used at Wedings funerals, and other celbrations the decortive spoons were given away. Also at this Dutch gathings a lot of furniture and other items were broken up after the booze was ingested.
To include glay pipes which may or maynot have been thrown in a pit. If you are digging in an old Dutch area that may be it.

The pipes where very cheap and where often given away with tobacco, at pubs and the like, they also are very easy to break and anywhere people smoked you have a good chance at finding them. I like the celebrations theory though [:D] .

The range of different pipes is just amazing, you can get famous poets, generals, kings and queens, pipes depicting the name of pubs, even pornografic pipes believe it or not [8|] (persumably given away at brothels).
