Cleaning the Frig

And taking a break. Here is a bit of an adventure I had a wee bit back.
I picked the spot to dig and my Uncle cleared it and started digging.
I ran the dirt through the screen.

About a foot down I started getting quite a few flakes. Then they ran out.
So when I took over the shovel I went to the side of the whole where the flakes were more prolific.
I soon discovered a layer of them about 3 1/2 inches thick.

We had discovered where an Indian had sat down and knapped away.

The only artifact in the whole bunch was a thumb scraper and only a couple more flakes had been worked on.
Can you pick it out in this picture? And all the rock was native to this area.

My Uncle had a fun time showing it at the archaeological meeting 2 weeks later.

And now back to work.

Great photo of your uncle. He looks like a great guy. I had but one uncle, and he died just before I was born.

How often do you get to dig with him?
