bottlingco,

The TNT's are like mine. I always liked those bottles. I'll later post a couple other bottles with that same bottle shape.

You aren't kidding regarding the "many varieties" of Cotton Club. I'll post a group photo later of some of the many that are out there. Same with the Big Boy in your last photo, so many variations.

Does your posted Pep-Up say Cleveland anywhere on it? I've seen the bottle many times, but never with a city. I've always wondered if it was a Cleveland bottle or maybe from somewhere else. Especially since it says by Big Boy Inc, and all my Cleveland Big Boys says Big Boy Beverages Inc. Akron, Ohio had their own version of a Pep-Up that if I remember correctly has a very similiar man featured on it. I think I have the Akron version in a box I can dig out.

I really like the Hunting Valley, but I can't remember if I have that version. I'll have to check later when I'm home.

Thanks again for posting,.................Rick

My Pep Up does not say Cleveland either, so the jury is not out on that one. It could have been by one of the other Big Boy franchises. bottlingco

Bottlingco,

Here's the Cleveland and Akron Pep-Up's. The Cleveland is fairly common by Big Boy Beverages Inc., but much harder to find this Lithiated version. The Akron is by Peoples Bottling Co.

Looks like these two and your Pep-Up all used the same little whistling guy on their bottles.

Just adding to Bottlingco's TNTs, a couple other Cleveland ACL's that used the same bottle design.

It's great getting to see all these different ACLs. I'll add a few myself. The only Cleveland bottles I have are Big Boys so I'll just post a few of my Ohio bottles.

Here is a Good Humor from Warren, Ohio (I have posted this bottle before). I believe the town of Warren is fairly close to Cleveland. This is the same company that does Good Humor ice cream. Good Humor is known for being the first company to put ice cream on a stick which would later become known as the Eskimo pie.

Here is a little 6 ounce Tom Thumb. It has two Ohio cities listed-- Cincinatti and Dayton.

And here is another Pep Up that may or may not be from Cleveland. It is a late 1930s bottle with an unusual black and white ACL. This bottle was listed on ebay about 6 months ago. I saved a pic to my hard drive since I had never seen this type of Pep Up before. Unfortunately this one is not in my collection.

How many different Double Eagle Ginger Beers are there? I once bought a case of 24 (3 different styles) with four nice paper cartons and a great wood crate for $30.

Has anyone ever seen a Kris Kringle Klub that was based in Akron in the 1920's?
