Now that you mention it, it does look newer; it has a shape similar to the Northrop & Lyman Eclectric Oil from Newcastle, though the comparison pictured here has an unusual top as well.View attachment 220226

That's a beautiful bottle! It does have a pretty similar shape, does the one your buddy found have an applied lip or a tooled lip? I'm having a hard time telling from the photo.

I believe it is a tooled lip, but I'll have to check on that to be sure. All I know for sure is the top is rare for that particular bottle.
