Maybe Rowan Atkinson, I mean Steve Sewell... you know who I mean... has something in his newspaper archives? [8|][8|]

that's a weird one. Either british or a transitional item from somewhere like Philly.
A better photo of the front might help. It looks like it may actually be D Davidson or something else.
I cant enhance it , the photo isn't clear enough but I think the spacing is wrong for D David's
I am sorry you guys I think you are right it is not Davids. I took this photo back in July at my friends house in Seattle and did not remember the spelling and just reading off my poor photo. We had talked about finding out about the bottle and I just got around to it. Sorry for wasting your time I will call him tonight and get the correct spelling.

no problem here. I'd love to know what it is. I know Jerry would like it to be English.

Any time you post something that obviously old, you aren't wasting anyone's time.

It looks English to me, the pontil, the color, and the lettering. But I'm by no means an expert. It just reminds me of the magnesia bottles in those attributes.

You're right: it's probably Davidson. Zoomed image shows an 'o' after 'Davids'.

Makes sense: there were a few "Davidson's" patent medicines in the UK 1800 - 1860 (Davidson's Ointment, Davidson's Aperient Vegetable Pills, and so on).

you were able to enlarge it better than me. I just noticed the text wasn't centered correctly for David's

Got a hold of my friend and he is out of town but say's it Davidson's. Makes sense to me that it is English most likely. Thanks again for the interest.
