We're on a super tight budget, but occasionally we find a bargain...Here's what today's rainy wanderings of the aisles produced,...The bottle is a beautiful color,...Lauren calls it "black cherry' (and that's what it looks like) Shades of puce/strawberry amber I would say...very unusual with neat embossing "S.S. WYCKOFF&CO." with a raised border surrounding it, curved around the shoulder of the bottle. Also a cool double collared gloppy applied lip. If anyone is familiar with this bottle,...please give a shout. I found it hidden behind some more common chipped and beat medicines and such,...almost passed it by till I spotted the lip. [:)] 12 dollars after the Fathers day sale discount.[:)] Thanks for looking. Joe
P.S.I'll have to get some better pics in natural light after this rain lets up.

Interesting clipping from 1852.. S S Wyckoff & Co is mentioned.. apparently they weren't teetotalers.

Here's one other cool item I couldn't pass up. This guy was a local Indian medicine man, W/his own vaudeville traveling medicine show. I researched and found his homestead a few years ago and dug it.Then I started collecting his stuff. It rarely comes up. these are the only two items I have so far.

I found this bottle last year in with a dusty box of left behinds of a deceased local digger...Tom and I got a call to come look at some items left over from the estate. I was tickled to find it. It was unpassable at $2.00...So now I've got the start of another subcollection[:D].

Can anyone check for me to see if this link works?...thank you. When I googled Louis Belmont Newell, It came right up.(His Christian name) Anyhow it doesn't seem to work for me here. But, Thank you Rich, Cindy, Charlie and Doug...for the comments. I'm very happy to add this one to my collection! Doug,...It's funny you mentioned the ribbon-seal bottles,...That's exactly what came to mind when the guy unlocked the case and I held this bottle for the first time. Joe

Thank you Lobey!...looks like I accidentaly typed in a comma there in the start....One interesting thing I was remembering from digging his homestead, was that when I hiked in and found it, there was two house foundations....right side by side. Not too puzzling till you realize this guy lived on a good sized farm in the middle of nowhere...then I went back and read in his bio that one of his wife's mothers had been living there with them![:D][:D][:D] Joe
