I've got this tiny bottle (4" tall and 5/8" square) that is pontilled, a dark green color, full of bubbles, and embossed "Dr. White's Eye Water/of Traugott Ehrhardt". Is this American? If not, where is it from?
Traugott Ehrhardt was apparently the German inventor but a german bottle wouldnt say Eyewater , it would say Angenwasser. I would go with the English prognosis.
I actually have a second example of the same bottle (dug in the same place!) that is embossed "Dr Whites Augenwasser/Von Traug. Ehrhardt". That one is obviously embossed in German... These were dug in Alexandria, Virginia.
interesting. I havent found much on it so far.
Could be a german import product. They often had an american sole proprietor.
What does the pontil mark look like? Is it a tubular or a solid scar?
Neither bottle is capable of standing up due to the pontils...nonetheless, they are mysteries to me. I've looked for years for information on them, but found nothing.
