While I was walking a wood lot, I spied a broken wine bottle under a rock outcropping on a hillside just above a foundation. I dug into the leaf litter there and found 20-30 broken bottles and this one. The outcropping of rock on the hillside (this was on the downhill side) has protected it from rain all these years. The seam ends exactly at the base of the neck, the color is light auqua, and no marks/ pontil make me think it is from around 1870-1880...It is 4-3/4" tall, and 1-3/4 " round on the base.

Nuthin' special..but worth the time to dig! Nicely whittled!!!!! No chips or sickness of any sort!!!!! I am happy enough.
