Farm dump--old stuff under new?

Question for you fellow farm dump scratchers--I've dug a bunch but have never found good, old glass under a TOC dump. I've found many TOC dumps and many old dumps, but never together. many times, I've found an old one quite close to a TOC. Not sure why that would be--it would be easiest just to dump in the same place decade after decade.

I have seen pontilled historic flasks found in TOC dumps. There is always the chance to find hold overs in any dump. No telling when people would clean out thier attic or basement and haul it all to the dump.

there is really no rhyme or reason to it, sometimes they are, sometimes they aint. It seems that a lot of dumping areas were moved farther away from the house around the toc period though...

Basically there are no rules, except for the force...!
