Here are the three known flashed amber insulators made by Hemingray. Date codes on these are 1941 (Hemingray-661), 1942 (Hemingray-62), and unknown (Hemingray-518 spool).
The 661 is the hardest to come by. The amber colors vary from a yellow to a tiger striped red. These are all striped with yellow and predominately red. The flashed amber was applied while the glass was still molten, so it is one with the glass. Wire rub will wear on the coating, but does not just scrape off. The spool has a lead liner inside, and interestingly is clear on the top and bottom, which adds a neat color break effect.
