Found in ravine on Indiana farm 214/24

New to this forum so first post. I saw a similar post but no answers as to what this bottle was used for. Hoping pics provide clues to someone who knows.

Welcome to the forum! It contained motor oil - the example I found online says that the jars were used because of (presumably) metal rationing in WWII.

Also, what glass maker stamp is on bottom. I am not familiar with that one.

Since trying to save on metal use during WWII I'm surprised they gave it such a big metal lid instead of a small metal lid.. they pushed the use of Quart beer bottles over smaller 12 oz. or pint beer bottles during WWII to save on Metal Usage & restricted all use of Beer Cans for Civilian use. Leon.
