Found this ACL about 2 months ago. Figured I'd let it dry out some before cleaning which usually helps retain the paint/color. Which I believe it did in this case. BUT, Maybe not as well as I originally thought. Seems i'm missing the C in Chill on back & some small writing on the front. LEON.

Virginia Dare's name and image have been on many items through the years. One 19th Century company, Garrett & Co., started in Norfolk, Virginia about 1835 or so. They sold wine and also had the Virginia Dare name embossed too. In the post Civil War era two Confederate battle flags were in embossment. Right J-Storm? These sometimes bring triple digits. Look close. Sorry Virginia...

The ACL still turned out pretty well for a dug bottle! I had always wondered about how well letting them dry worked, I haven't dug any ACLs in ages but if I do come across any worth bringing home I'll have to try it out.
