Another bottle dug this past November in Charleston, SC
At first I thought it was black but a closer look showed me green. Slightly indented pontil base, almost 11" tall.
It appears to my uneducated eye that the bottle was made in several pieces. I can't find a side seam up to 5 inches. Then it seems to have a horizontal seam around. No seam up to the top. The top is crudely done and has one very small sharp chip and one bigger one that appears to be a chip but is smooth. I'll enclose a closer picture of the tip in the next entry. I can't figure out how to put more than one picturein the post.
My (?) wine bottle is very rough and full of bubbles.
What can you tell me about it?
Thanks so much
Marjorie

This is as close as I could get without a close up lens.

Hey Marjorie, that's a nice early bottle. I don't believe it is a wine simply because of the applied sloping collar lip. Most earlier wines have an applied string lip. I do believe this bottle held spirits of some sort though. My guess without seeing the bottom would be mid 1800's. Kelley
PS. You didn't make me feel uncomfortable with the photo, but I must confess, my mind might have been (temporarily of coarse) somewhere else![:D] Trussin's observation was just plain funny!
