I just happened to notice on ebay another one of those consumer glass star embossed art deco bottles has appeared , have 5 or 6 from different cities already but never seen the hearst bottle before its a little town way up north so would never go up that way , did drive thru hearst years ago when we went out west . it already has 1 bid so not sure i'll try and buy it but was interesting to see there is other art deco bottles like the others I already have out there from other towns I have not yet seen the bottle being used in before . book indicates hearst bottling co operated 1943-1952 so not as old as the others some of which were from 30's but looks to be same bottle maybe a 7oz size though . http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Vintage-Hearst-Ontario-Soda-Bottle-/141577002161?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item20f6a59cb1

Nice bottle still even if a generic one. I myself have not really studied these style of bottles. It's similar to the latter ACL design that I have (Cold Spring) which is dated 1945 but I would assume they offered just the embossed as well as the ACL?...at that time (1943).I still have a couple of western Canada ones in that style bottle I'd love to have!

apparently there aren't many of these hearst bottles available for sale cause it went for a crazy price on ebay something like $200 Canadian which is almost unheard of around here for a soda bottle .not really sure why someone wanted it that bad but they did .

I just looked at the auction...a newbe with 0 feedback rating drove the price way up?...probably way more than the seller thought it'd go for. Just my opinion, it's a 30 dollar bottle at best.

That's a cool bottle. Probably a shill bidder made up by the seller. I had a similar thing happen to me about a month ago.

I bid just for kicks when it was at $30 and the 0 feedback bidder had bid first and I was outbid automatically . I imagine in an antique store up north it be a $ 20 bottle maybe , I don't know how many are around but its only from 40's-50's so I'm sure some still pop up . if anyone up north saw what it went for my guess is more will appear on ebay in coming months

Jeez, that's a lot for a generic deco soda. It probably is pretty rare, since Hearst isn't that big a place and every town nearby is even smaller, but $200 is ridiculous. I'm surprised that it's in English, since Hearst is a French Canadian town and everything else I've ever seen from Hearst is in French.
