First off. Hello all! New to the forum but ended up here a few times from searching things on google. I need help IDing an insulator I got the other day. To me, it looks like a cd 160.7 ice cream cone style, but I'm no expert . Is there a way to tell it apart ?

Well, it hasn't come in the mail yet. I got it from ebay yesterday and it was shipped today. The seller had literally no info on it , just said "glass insulator lot" and the one in question is one of them. It did have a pretty good picture though which I will post here in 20 minutes. It appears to have embossing but I am not sure. I will post the pictures in 20 minute from my computer-right now I'm using my phone and it won't do pictures on the forum. Thanks for the quick reply and I'll be back shortly

If it's got embossing on the skirt, then it's not going to be a 160.7. Those are all base embossed American Insulator Company items. Then again, I suppose it's possible you made the discovery of the decade and found the first skirt embossed version. [;)]

The CD 162.4 is a Canadian style that's more common and looks similar to the 160.7 in profile, typically embossed 1678 on the skirt.

As Jim said, it's a lot easier to tell from a photo. We're all eager to see it now!

Okay yea I def think its the canadian one then because the embossing appeared to start with the number 1 then a G but now that I think about it the letter G is probably a 6. meaning it has 1678 on it most likely.

Yep! I say CD 162.4 Canadian 1678. Nice piece but not rare or particularly spendy. The other is CD 147, Spiral Groove, not at all valuable unless it contains an unusual anomoly. Looks definitely like a BROOKFIELD made piece.
