I picked this bottle up last weekend at our local bottle show, and I can`t find any info on it. It`s barrel shaped, 8 7/8" tall, and has a square slug plate on the front with "Kiderlen Rotterdam / Celebrated Old Gin" embossed in it. Unfortunately the neck and lip have been replaced with a top from another bottle, the color doesn`t match exactly, but it`s still a beautiful green barrel. Is this thing American? It has English writing on it so I`m tempted to say it is, but I was hoping someone here might know something about this bottle. I`ve never seen one of these before, and any help will be greatly appreciated!

I knew there were case gins with the name, but what threw me off with this is the English embossing. It might be one of those that never gets figured out. Thanks for your help!

I know this is not your bottle but here is one with the same kind of top, maybe where the repair guy could have got an idea? Just a wild guess.

I'd like to see you post it on our Facebook Bottle Collectors Page Bill, if you don't want to be on Facebook I'd like to post a pic to see what some of the experts have to say, I think it's a beauty...

I`m on Facebook quite a bit now, too cold to do much else some days. What is the name of it so I can find it? There are quite a few bottle collecting sites on there. 2find4me, that could very well be where he got the idea for the top, plus it`s such an odd shade of green, it could be the closest one in regards to color that he could find. Who ever repaired it probably couldn`t find a picture of the bottle anywhere, so he used what he thought was best. It`s one of those bottles that when you first look at it, the color and form are so interesting that you don`t notice it`s been repaired until you look closer at it.

A few things I will say.
1) They were listed in Delftshaven which was separate from Rotterdam until 1886.
2) The Netherlands area must have had a lot of juniper. [:)]3) The top looks like a Janos top to me.Fat load of good that is but, eh?

This trully an interesting bottle. Most of the case gin were E.Kiderlen (the E stands for Emil). I never seen just Kiderlen. Although the E.Kiderlen case gin bottles has many variant. with value range from $50-$1000.
