I recently just got into digging. I found this old dump where it holds pretty much everything you can think of. Dont really know what I am looking for but there are lots of bottles with good labels and embossments. One thing that I found that was kind of odd was a can of Hi-V the colors and everything on the can are actually in pretty good shape for being buried I was shocked. Can still see a ink stamp on the bottom. Anyone ever heard of such a brand or have any hints on anything I should look for?

I do take everything. Its a very old farmhouse. The deeper I go the older it gets. I just thought the hiv can was ver odd. Some 1936 rc colas and some earlier ones so far. Thin x glass bottle and some cokes and lots of other random stuff. Toys insulators, cars, you name it its probably there. Its huge. They tried filling in a river that pools up there so the decline to the water is all a dump.

The can looks like FCOJ, or frozen concentrated orange juice ..remember that stuff? Waiting for the can-shaped lump of yellow ice to dissolve in the pitcher of water? ..poking at it with a wooden spoon? Earliest I can remember the can was made of cardboard.. perhaps this is an earlier, unfrozen version?

Yes this is an unfrozen version. Add sugar for flavor as well it says. Also has the great cover which was not fully cut off which also has some nice graphics

Also just unearthed an old peanut butter jar. The one that looks like a clock. What brand is that? A parker inkwell and a bottle that has 1788 written all over it.

Well one of the first things I look at is the amount of aluminum bottles/cans. If there is a large amount, then the dump is either one of two things: A newer dump, that does not have much in it, or An old dump that has been used up until recently. Then I look at the glass, and whether there are more threaded bottles, of cork top ones. lastly I look at the foundation. Usually (and I say this loosely) if there is concrete mixed in with the rocks then the house is from the early 1900's and therefore not very old. $ 0.02 :)
