Maybe it's just me, but is this an applied crown top? It seems odd to me and I have not seen many like this.

Its correct. First its an english bottle, their glass plants were on a totally different evolvement then ours, and even some of our smallglasshouses used old fashioned methods up into the 1900s, I believe crown tope were invented in the 1880s so an applied top wouldnt be so hard to find or believe......Andy
